Breakfast date

Look at this amazing boy! I got to take him out this morning! His tongue is purple from all those blueberries!

Y chromosome

Fascinating.

Winner

Asher won a kite at the Earth Day Fair at the Rec Center on Tuesday. It is 48" wide and shaped like a falcon. Talk about awesome!

Hidden picture

Ian is pointing to a cat that is tolerating him. Ian is only one fascinated with this interaction.

"Mama, can we call this 'Asher's Garden'?"

And so it was.

Garden, phase 2

Asher and I are making our garden charming this morning! Asher moved the stepping stones so "we can walk right past the peonies and through the flowers!" He is becoming a very good garden designer! (He also thought it was amazing that we would plant something actually inside a basket.) We are partway through Phase 2. (The yews are in, too, but they are more necessary than beautiful or charming. I'm sure you can picture those in your mind.)

Phase 1 is finished!

I took out everything except he hyacinths, moved the peonies together, took down the stone wall. Neil rototilled it all. I rebuilt the wall and planted two blueberries and a hydrangea. So, since I got a few plants in the ground, I'm going to say we've entered phase two. What a big week. We have been working hard.

Family picture!

I think this is the spring equivalent of the kids-on-straw-bales pictures: kids-on-stacked-peat-moss-on-a-Lowes-cart.

Old fashioned School day

The Maple Dale 2nd graders had pioneer school today. Joel had a great time.

A new skill

Ian is learning to "dip-dip" his apples into peanut butter this morning. It's the first time he has dipped and not (exclusively) gone straight into the dipping sauce with his fingers. Big improvement.

Detour

We came to Lowes for some front garden things, but ended up here. From Ian's reaction to seeing them from afar, there was no skipping it.

First tball game!

Here is Asher running into home. Fun game tonight!

Early morning robin chasing

I'm not kidding when I say he's ready to go outside right after breakfast!
